Panama Stock Exchange
Ever since the opening of the Panama Stock Exchange took place in year 1990 it has been a crucial part of Panama’s development being the regional finance center of Central America. They currently only trade in US dollars and most of the transactions are government bonds. The listed companies are strong growth and profit companies in central and north parts of Central America, they are currently around 100 companies listed.
It is called “Bolsa de Valores de Panamá S.A” in Spanish. The owners are mainly the local banks, local industry with some businessmen and stock brokers.
The transactions on Panama Stock Exchange clear after three days, unless another date is agreed upon.
Panama Stock Exchange introduced electronic trading in 2003. Should this system fail traditional “open outcry” trading forms can take place on the stock exchange floor.
